Curveballs for Jobu

Curveballs for Jobu is Off Base Percentage's daily trip around the ballparks.

Today's honorary bat boy is Mike Aldrete

Marlins 6, Padres 3. Rookie Mike Stanton, one of MTD's boyfriends, is having trouble in areas most every rookie has not named Albert Pujols: he's striking out a ton and he's not getting on base enough. But the 20-year old is certainly hitting for power. He clubbed his ninth home run and Ricky Nolasco struck out seven in 8 1/3 innings as the Fish have won 13 of 19. Somewhere in Miami, no one cares.

Athletics 6, Whitesox 2. Oakland didn't respect the 512 and knocked around John Danks for five earned in 6 2/3 innings, while Dallas Braden went the distance for the win. Afterwards, Braden gave the proper respect to the laundromat down the street from his childhood home ("dope drier sheets").

Cardinals 11, Pirates 1. Erik Kratz: 0-for-4, 3 strikeouts
